Built-in Back Up: Our Favorite Video Game Siblings

Video games provide an opportunity for us to explore the world beyond the plains of our reality. We can run with dinosaurs, fly around in space, discover monster-infested dungeons, or save a princess in a colorful world. All these games can be played alone, but some are better played with a player two.

In life, we are sometimes given a built-in player two, also known as a sibling. That sib can be younger or older, and is often bestowed upon you without your request. Thanks, Mom! Still, it is a bond like no other!

Even video game characters have fellow offspring. In fact, that relationship can become a key component of the story. Here is a list of some of our favorite video game siblings.

Chris and Claire Redfield

These siblings fight against biohazards and evil corporations. Chris is a tough-as-nails soldier, while Claire is a resourceful and courageous college student.

Dante and Vergil (Devil May Cry)

Demon-hunting twins with contrasting styles and loyalties. Dante is all about flash and power, while Vergil is more reserved and seeks ultimate power.

Crash Bandicoot and Coco Bandicoot

This marsupial brother-sister duo takes on mad scientist Dr. Neo Cortex. Crash is the impulsive and energetic one, while Coco is the tech-savvy mechanic who creates gadgets to help Crash.

Billy and Jimmy Lee (Double Dragon)

These side-scrolling brawlers dispense street justice as the Lee brothers.

Mario and Luigi

The most recognizable gaming bros of all time. Despite their contrasting personalities, they are an inseparable team who always save the day.

Solid Snake, Liquid Snake, and Solidus Snake (Metal Gear Solid)

These three genetically engineered clones are locked in an epic struggle, each with their own ideologies.

Beat and Rhyme

These twins team up to fight off monsters and complete missions in the afterlife. Beat is a hotheaded young man, while Rhyme is more level-headed and keeps Beat in check.

Anya and Dimitri Blaiddyd (Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance)

A princess and a knight who fight for their kingdom. Anya is kind-but-sheltered, while Dimitri is a stoic warrior.

Maya and Mia Fey

These sisters are both defense attorneys who fight for their clients in court. Maya is a spirit medium who can channel the spirits of the dead to help solve cases, while Mia is a brilliant and experienced lawyer.

Sans and Papyrus

Skeletal brothers who live in the underground monster world. Sans is a lazy jokester with a mysterious past, while Papyrus is a naive and enthusiastic aspiring hero.

From Mario & Luigi to Crash & Coco, video games show us that sibling love conquers all! Teamwork, rivalry, or channeling spirits - these pixelated kin prove family's the ultimate power-up. #GamerLove #SiblingGoals
